Bringing to life a new garden.

The owners of this new house in Settle had spent 40 years developing and nurturing their previous garden. They asked me to give them help and advice to ensure that this new garden developed quickly, with a good framework and structure to which they could add their own stamp.

Large sweeping beds around the perimeter create interesting shape and a sense of flow around the garden, with trees and shrubs planted to create privacy between the house and the road. Ornamental grasses and perennials in the back garden do not block the view of the hills.

A new semi-circular patio was built at the back of the house and a path to link the front door with the drive, but it was the planting that really made the difference in this garden.

The work was carried out in April and by July the garden was full of colour from the perennials and was buzzing with insects, butterflies and birds. The owners are delighted with the result and have spent many hours adding their own touch.
